Well-Being and Mental Health
At Southwick, we are passionate about the importance of teaching our children to understand the link between well-being and positive mental health.
This belief underpins our whole approach. There are a number of ways that we do this, beginning with a whole school approach, followed by a more targeted individual approach where needed.
Whole School (Tier 1)
- Daily breathwork
- 3 'well-being' days a year (with a focus on mental health)
- Class based Thrive every second week
- Play as part of the curriculum
- PSHE/RSE curriculum
- Termly forest school for every class
- 'Worry boxes' in each class
- Bi-weekly pupil voice sessions
- Nurture group at lunch time
- Restorative behaviour policy
- Trauma sensitive approach
To access the tiers below, children are referred to our pastoral team, who make a decision about what support they may need.
